Bindura Man Kills Brothers, Claims Intruder Threat

Alistair Samhere, a 25-year-old man from Chihumbiri farm, has been arrested for allegedly killing his two teenage brothers, Leslie (17) and Elsie (13), while they slept. The incident has shaken the close-knit community, leaving residents grappling with shock and confusion over Samhere’s motive.

Samhere reportedly claimed intruders wielding dreadlocks threatened him into committing the murders. However, authorities are investigating the validity of this claim.

The tragedy unfolded at night on a farm located over 40 kilometres from Bindura. Miraculously, Samhere’s five-year-old brother escaped unharmed.

“Neighbors alerted us about a call regarding intruders at the house,” said village head Radzire. “They found the boy murdered in his room and the girl in hers. This incident has deeply shaken the community.”

Following the discovery, the community apprehended Samhere after noticing blood stains on his hands. They also found an axe hidden nearby.

Samhere, who had taken care of his siblings since his parents’ divorce in 2018, is reportedly distraught and unable to explain his actions. A close relative stated, “He is crying endlessly. Authorities are allowing him to speak, but it’s difficult to get a reason for the killings. He called his father after the incident to confess.”

Samhere appeared before a Bindura Magistrate and will remain in custody until next week’s hearing. The post-mortem results are pending.
