Fatal Crane Collapse at Trabablas Interchange Project Site

Tefoma Construction has reported a fatal accident involving a crane collapse at the Trabablas Interchange project site in Harare.

The incident occurred on 6 January 2025 during the dismantling of a static tower crane.

A mechanical failure caused both the tower crane and the mobile crane being used to dismantle it to collapse.

The deceased was an employee of Manzlink, a specialist rigging company subcontracted by Tefoma.

“Tefoma Construction (Pvt) Ltd (Tefoma) regrets to report a fatal injury following a mechanical failure during crane de-erection operations at the Trabablas Interchange project site on 6 January 2025,” the company said in a statement.

“The board of directors and management extend their sincere condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and colleagues.”

A full investigation into the incident is underway in cooperation with relevant authorities.

Tefoma has offered its full support to the deceased’s family and is working closely with Manzlink to ensure all necessary support is provided.

The company remains committed to maintaining high safety standards across all its project sites.
