Husband Attacked by Bouncers After Finding Used Condoms

A man who discovered used condoms in his bedroom on his birthday was attacked by two bouncers hired by his wife.
Kenias Zimbwa told the Harare Civil Court that the bouncers, including his wife’s brother who is a soldier, were hired by his wife, Chipiwa Taruona. Zimbwa recounted how he was thrown out of his house naked after being assaulted and left with bruises.
“I came home on my birthday to find used condoms under my bed. When I confronted her, she hired bouncers to attack me. One of the bouncers was her brother,” Zimbwa said. “They attacked me, leaving me with bruises, and threw me out of the house while I was naked. My wife also once attacked me with a screwdriver four times.”
Zimbwa expressed his distress at learning of his wife’s extramarital affairs after she had deprived him of sex for months. “She does not cook for me, and I am forced to sleep without a blanket or on the floor. I am scared she will end up killing me. I wish the court could protect me,” he added.
In response, Chipiwa claimed, “My husband has been sexually abusing me for years. I hired people to attack him.”
Magistrate Meenal Naratom granted Chipiwa a protection order and advised Kenias to apply for his own protection order.
