Ngezi Platinum coach Takesure Chiragwi has called for consistency from his team following their hard-fought 1-0 victory over newcomers Scottland at Rufaro Stadium on Friday. The win marked Ngezi Platinum’s first of the season, providing a much-needed boost after two consecutive draws against Kwekwe United and Green Fuel.
The Mhondoro-based side, often tipped as title contenders, had struggled to find their rhythm in the opening matches. However, a late penalty converted by captain Kudzai Chigwida, won by substitute Tinashe Mavhudzi, secured the crucial three points.
Chiragwi, while relieved with the result, emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum. “This win should give us confidence moving forward,” he said. “What matters now is consistency in our performance, tactical approach, and results. We’ll celebrate this victory but quickly shift our focus to the next game.”

The coach also addressed the departure of key players, including long-serving goalkeeper Nelson Chadya and defender Gareth Madhake, as well as promising youngster Walter Vhuwa, who joined Chicken Inn. Chiragwi expressed confidence in his new signings, such as Canadian-Zimbabwean goalkeeper Darlington Murasiranwa and defender Nyasha Gurende from ZPC Kariba. Additionally, he has promoted several youngsters from the club’s development side, including Mavhudzi and Tinotenda Ditima, who made an impact off the bench.
Ngezi Platinum’s next challenge will be against Triangle when the league resumes after the FIFA international break. With the team now finding their footing, Chiragwi’s call for consistency will be crucial as they aim to climb the league table and live up to their title-contender status.
