ZRP Releases the Names of the Victims from the Fatal Masvingo-Beitbridge Road Accident

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has provided an update on the tragic traffic accident at the 262-kilometre peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road near Lutumba Tollgate on 13th February 2025. The death toll has risen to 25.

Commissioner Chief Staff Officer (Press and Public Relations) Paul Nyathi released a statement listing the names of 22 of the 25 victims identified by their next of kin. They include:

  • Gwiba Kezias (51), a male from Stoneridge, Harare
  • Mudzingwa Origin (47), a male from Sese Village, Masvingo
  • Tsitsi Mukaro, a female from Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge
  • Emma Mukaro, a female from Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge
  • Punich Masvenhise (45), a male from SDP, Beitbridge
  • Richard Kandororo (37), a male from Marindale, Norton
  • Vincent Bvumbe (35), a male from Shule Shule, Beitbridge
  • Petronella Murungweni (26), a female from Mashavire, Beitbridge
  • Jeke Paradzai (46), a male from Glen Norah, Harare
  • Abell Rumbwere, a male from Mashavire, Beitbridge
  • Melissa Jackson (21), a female from Warren Park, Harare
  • Natasha Tembo, a female from SDP, Beitbridge
  • Gilbert Gwinyai Mafi, a male from Mbare, Harare
  • Elizabeth Mauto (48), a female from Seke, Chitungwiza
  • Faustina Zhakata Chibamu, a female from Budiriro 5, Harare
  • Mutsekwa Josphine, a female from Dulibadzimu, Beitbridge
  • Mollicious Kahanda (37), a female from Holiday Inn, Beitbridge
  • Douglous Mandira (43), a male from Marlborough, Harare
  • Angela Tembo, a female from SDP, Beitbridge
  • Taziva Nyashega, a male from Hatcliffe, Harare
  • Elton Marima, a male from Old Medium, Beitbridge

Currently, 29 injured passengers are receiving treatment at Beitbridge District Hospital, while two others are admitted to Gwanda Provincial Hospital. Additionally, 13 victims have been transferred to the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for further medical attention.

The ZRP appeals to the public to help identify the remaining three victims. Meanwhile, the Police urge drivers to be responsible on the roads, promote road safety, and avoid overtaking in unsafe situations.
