2024 Grade 7 Results Released: Pass Rate Improves

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has released the 2024 Grade 7 results, with the national pass rate rising to 49.01%, a 3.44% improvement from the previous year.

Students can access their results online via the ZIMSEC portal from 4 PM today (Friday, 29 November) or collect them from regional offices starting on 2 December.

The announcement comes as the government’s e-enrolment platform for Form One placements is underway. The Electronic Ministry Application Platform (e-map) allows parents to apply for boarding school places for their children until 31 December.

With approximately 400,000 learners sitting for the Grade 7 exams, competition for boarding school places is expected to be high.

Taungana Ndoro, Director of Communication and Advocacy in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, advised parents to avoid being overly selective when choosing schools.

“Yes, boarding places have increased as we now have over 11,000 schools nationally,” Ndoro said. “Parents that decline schools thinking their children will be selected at another preferred school usually only have themselves to blame, as boarding vacancies are not guaranteed everywhere because your child passed with flying colours.”

“Our clarion call is parents must take up the school that offers them a vacancy because if they decline, there are no guarantees of boarding vacancies from their first priority school,” he added.

The e-map system, introduced in 2016, allows parents to select up to five boarding schools for their children. The platform was designed to increase transparency in the Form One enrolment process and prevent unfair exclusion of learners.
