A brazen armed robbery unfolded at the Forestry Commission offices in Highlands, Harare, where a gang of six masked robbers overpowered security guards before making off with an undisclosed sum of cash.
The suspects, armed with a pistol and iron bars, tied up two security guards and proceeded to blast open a safe, stealing US$2,140 from the sales office.
The criminals then forced entry into nearby Instinct Risk Advisory offices, using iron bars to break through window burglar bars.
They ransacked two offices, removed a safe from the accounts office, and forced it open outside, taking yet-to-be-confirmed amounts of cash.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident, stating that a reaction team from GTS Security attended the scene after an alarm was triggered.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case in Highlands. At the scene, recovered were yellow pliers, green detonator cords, and dynamite paste tubes. The total value stolen is still being determined,” said Inspector Chakanza.
Authorities continue their investigations, urging businesses and residents in Highlands to remain vigilant and enhance security measures in light of recent attacks.
