Police in Bulawayo are investigating an armed robbery that left a 41-year-old man injured and robbed of his vehicle and cash in Llanda suburb on the evening of 27 April 2025.
According to a statement from the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the incident occurred at approximately 6:00 PM as the victim waited for his gate to be opened.
Two masked suspects, armed with pistols, reportedly smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle before shooting him in the right hand.
The attackers fled the scene in the victim’s Mazda CX-5, which contained US$3,000, an iPhone, and other personal belongings.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered abandoned on a dust road near the Bulawayo-Solusi Road, but no arrests had been made at the time of reporting.
Bulawayo City Council to Enforce Stray Dog Control Measures
In a separate development, the City of Bulawayo has announced plans to enforce a tie-up order starting 5 May 2025 to address the growing number of stray dogs and reduce the risk of rabies and dog attacks.
In a public notice, Town Clerk Christopher Moyo reminded residents of the Bulawayo (Dog Licensing and Control) by-laws, which limit households to two dogs on properties smaller than 2,000 square metres and four dogs on larger properties.
Moyo emphasised that dogs must not roam freely outside their owners’ premises and should only be kept on securely fenced or gated properties, noting that hedges are not considered adequate barriers.
These measures aim to ensure public safety and prevent the spread of rabies in the city.
