BINDURA, Zimbabwe – January 7, 2024 – In a horrifying echo of last week’s tragedy, a CAG bus travelling from Harare to Mt Darwin overturned in Madziva this afternoon, leaving tens of passengers injured. This comes just days after another CAG bus accident claimed the lives of at least five passengers on the Magunje route.
Details remain scarce, but initial reports suggest the bus overturned near Madziva, on the road towards Mt Darwin. The number of injured passengers is still being confirmed, but it is believed to be significant.
Adding to the grim picture, news has surfaced of another CAG bus incident near Madziva involving a child. According to reports, a CAG bus ran over a child close to the area, not far from the Oliver Mtukudzi residence. Unfortunately, the child’s condition is yet to be determined.
The bus company has remained silent about the spurt of accidents and efforts to get a comment from them were not fruitful.
This latest incident casts a dark shadow over Zimbabwe’s transportation industry, raising concerns about safety and regulations following two serious accidents within a short timeframe.
