Children of Liberation War Veterans Elect New Leadership in Mashonaland Central
The Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association (CZLWVA) in Mashonaland Central held its elective congress on 9 November to choose new provincial leaders and nominate representatives for the national leadership.
The CZLWVA is an affiliate of the ruling ZANU PF party and represents the interests of the children of liberation war veterans. The association aims to uphold the values and continue the legacy of their parents.
The congress, held at the ZANU PF party office in Bindura, was attended by several dignitaries, including the Provincial Chairman of the War Veterans League, Cde Kwainona, and the Secretary for Security, Cde Manyame. National members of the CZLWVA were also present, including Vice Chairman Cde Clinton Chikwaka Chikaura and Political Commissar Cde Lenin Samhembere.
Key Objectives
The CZLWVA is a registered association with the primary goal of defending the gains of the liberation struggle and advocating for the economic and social well-being of war veterans and their dependents.
This was the third provincial elective congress held in Mashonaland Central. Previous congresses were held in 2014 and 2019.

Newly elected Provincial Chairperson, Cde Desire Kativhu, emphasised the importance of youth engagement in upholding the legacy of the liberation struggle and contributing to Zimbabwe’s development.
“As youths, we have a role to play in our economic development,” Kativhu stated. “I am keen and enthusiastic in fighting the use of drugs and harmful substances which our fellow youngsters are sunk into as it is destroying the future awaiting and would like to urge all my fellow agemates and Zimbabweans at large to be effervescent and sound in building our heritage and take charge in every economic proliferation and support the youth development projects.”
This restructuring programme marks a significant step for the CZLWVA in Mashonaland Central, with the newly elected leadership poised to advocate for the interests of the children of liberation war veterans and contribute to the province’s development.
The elected Mashonaland Central National Number Prince Elvis Mufudza confirmed that “the newly elected executive has already started its 100-day provincial plan of action.” He added, “as CZLWVA Mashonaland Central we will leave no stone unturned as we will work closely with our party ZANU PF and the government as a whole in pursuit of attaining upper middle income state by 2030. As CZLWVA our agenda is to safeguard the gains of the liberation, leaving no place and no one behind.”
