Chivhayo Implicated in Mambo Dhuterere’s Marital Crisis

Gospel singer Mambo Dhuterere’s marital crisis has taken a dramatic turn, with new revelations implicating businessman Wicknell Chivayo in a bitter dispute.

Sources close to his estranged wife, Dorcas Vambe – widely known as Mai Dhuterere – claim that the singer began behaving erratically upon learning she was expecting their fifth child. This upset reportedly set off a chain reaction, culminating in Dhuterere abandoning his family without warning.

Insiders reveal that despite his public image as a gentleman, Dhuterere has frequently subjected his wife to ridicule and even blamed her for his misfortunes.

“He appears to be a nice man in public, but he has been subjecting his wife to ridicule, sometimes blaming her for bringing bad luck into his life,” a source disclosed. In one particularly contentious episode, the singer allegedly accused Mai Dhuterere of being the root of his bad luck after he missed out on a luxury car deal linked to Sir Wicknell Chivayo.

This claim has thrown an additional spanner in the works, dragging Chivayo’s name into the escalating family drama.

Further compounding the crisis, it emerged that their union, which originally began with the couple settling together – even when Mai Dhuterere already had a child from a previous relationship that Dhuterere agreed to adopt – began to unravel following a series of unfortunate events. Notably, in December 2024, Mai Dhuterere was arrested on fraud charges totalling US$16,000. Prosecutors allege that she and her brother defrauded an individual by falsely promising assistance in purchasing a Toyota Hilux GD6 from Botswana.

To add to her woes, Mai Dhuterere’s home was burglarised recently; while her passport was later recovered from the garden, her phone and laptop were stolen.

Now, in a bid to support her children amid these challenges, she has reportedly begun a small business selling detergents.

Sources lament that the fallout is having a detrimental effect on their children, noting, “The problem now is that his fallout with Mai Dhuterere is affecting their kids, especially their eldest, who doesn’t deserve to be dragged into this mess.”

Dhuterere’s sudden departure – packing his bags, seizing his travel documents and leaving without a word – has left many questioning his true motives.

His actions suggest that the blame for the deterioration of their marriage might extend beyond personal grievances to include disputes over financial and business matters.
