Father of Bindura 5 Accident Victims Appeals for Assistance for her Hospitalised Child
URGENT: Three weeks ago, a devastating accident in Bindura claimed the lives of five young girls, leaving their families and the community heartbroken.
One of the victims, Ashell Mabheka, a Grade 2 pupil, miraculously survived but sustained serious injuries, including a broken leg and arm. She has been receiving treatment at Bindura Hospital but now faces the possibility of amputation if she doesn’t undergo a crucial surgical procedure to insert metal braces in her leg.
Ashell’s father, Albert Mabheka, is unemployed and struggling to cope with the emotional and financial burden of this tragedy. He lost another daughter in the same accident and is now desperate to save Ashell from further suffering.
“My greatest pain right now is not only losing a child in an accident but watching helplessly whilst another one might get amputated as I am unemployed and survive on ‘macho’, which is not enough to meet the hospital bills,” said a distraught Mr Mabheka.
The immediate cost of the surgery is estimated at $600, a sum that Mr. Mabheka cannot afford.
He initially hesitated to ask for help, but with time running out, he is now appealing to the public for assistance.
Beyond the surgery, Ashell faces a long road to recovery. She will require further medical attention, including physiotherapy, to regain her mobility and return to school. She has already missed significant class time, and her education is hanging in the balance.
This is a plea to the compassionate members of our community. Let us come together and help Ashell get the treatment she desperately needs. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference in this young girl’s life. Let us show her and her father that they are not alone in this difficult time.
