A FIFA delegation is set to arrive in Zimbabwe today to induct the newly appointed ZIFA executive committee, led by Nqobile Magwizi.
David Fani, a seasoned football administrator from Botswana, will serve as the facilitator, assisted by FIFA consultant Stewart Regan. According to the ZIFA media office, the delegation will stay for four days.
The delegation will assist the ZIFA executive committee in understanding their roles and responsibilities. The executive committee is tasked with ensuring that policies passed by the Assembly are implemented by the secretariat and other operational arms of Zimbabwean football.
ZIFA stated, “Defining and discussing the role and responsibilities of the executive committee is one of the topics they will cover.”
Strategic planning and implementation will also be on the agenda. One issue that Zimbabweans seek clarity on is the legitimacy of the ZIFA Assembly. The Assembly’s term of office expired in 2022, and FIFA’s top-to-bottom approach has left a cloud of uncertainty.
Expectations are high for this ZIFA executive committee, which is anticipated to benefit from Kennedy Ndebele’s extensive football background.
