Govt in Five Terms BEAM Fees Arrears

The government has not paid fees under BEAM (Basic Education Assistance Module) for five terms now.

The situation has financially crippled schools forcing School Development Committees (SDCs) to breach government directives and send thousands of children under the scheme home for non-payment of fees.

This and many other issues are accelerating the collapse of Zimbabwe’s once vibrant education system as schools run without basic necessities like chalk and exercise books. Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education spokesperson Tawungana Ndoro told the press that his Minister is aware of the problem and has engaged the Minister of Finance.
