Fedwell Moyo, aged 42, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of his wife, Da Msipa, following a domestic dispute over money. The tragic incident occurred in Enyandeni Village, Gwanda.
On 28th February 2023, the couple had travelled to Vumbachikwe Mine to sell maize cobs and sweet reeds. Upon returning home, an argument broke out regarding how to use the earnings. Moyo wanted to allocate the money towards school fees, while Msipa wished to invest in a business. The disagreement escalated into violence, with Moyo striking his wife with a stone and later assaulting her fatally with a log.
In a chilling attempt to cover up the crime, Moyo buried Msipa’s body in a shallow grave within their maize fields. Shockingly, he involved his young daughter in moving the body, though she was unaware of the circumstances.
The case came to light on 12th March 2023, when Moyo confessed to a local resident, Livious Tshaka, who promptly reported the matter to the police. Moyo was arrested, tried, and convicted of murder.
