Headlands Businessman Allegedly Orchestrates Attempted Murder of Child in Ritualistic Killing
A prominent businessman from Headlands, Zimbabwe, is facing accusations of hiring a hitman to kill a young child for ritualistic purposes.
John Madondo, who operates shops in the Eagle Nest area, is currently in South Africa but is alleged to have instructed Tatenda Mudziwedare (20) to murder a seven-year-old student.
Mudziwedare pleaded guilty to attempted murder in court, revealing Madondo’s alleged involvement in the plot.
According to court documents, the attack occurred on February 28th, 2024, at the Sherenje Business Centre. Mudziwedare, acting on Madondo’s instructions, targeted a young student on their way to Sherenje Primary School.
He attempted to strangle the child but fortunately abandoned the assault upon noticing approaching villagers. The traumatized child later reported the incident to their mother, leading to Mudziwedare’s arrest.
Mudziwedare’s sentencing is expected to take place imminently. The case has sparked outrage in the community, raising concerns about the prevalence of ritualistic practices.
