The suspended Highlanders Football Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brian Moyo, has been arrested amidst allegations of financial misconduct linked to player transfers. Moyo, who had been in the role for less than four months, is accused of defrauding the club of US$5,000, but his official charges are yet to be disclosed.
Sources reveal that Moyo allegedly manipulated financial dealings during the most recent transfer window. It is claimed that he presented a fabricated invoice of US$23,000 for the transfers of two players, while the actual amount owed to Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club was US$18,000.
In connection with the case, Andrew Mandigora, an administrator at Bulawayo Chiefs and reportedly Moyo’s associate in the dealings, has also been suspended. Investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
