President Lazarus Chakwera announced the devastating news, stating that there were no survivors.
During a news briefing, President Chakwera expressed deep sorrow over the incident, revealing that the military had located the wreckage of the plane. The vice president, known for his tenure since 2014, was on his way to attend a funeral when the crash occurred.
Chilima’s passing marks a significant loss for Malawi, with President Chakwera praising him as “a good man” and “formidable VP.” The military is overseeing the transportation of the victims’ remains to Lilongwe for further arrangements.
