A 30-year-old man from Mazowe, Takudzwa Gatsi, has been fined US$100 by the Concession Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of assaulting Duduzile Zulu, a resident of Peter Compound.
According to court records, Zulu was chatting with a friend about “lodgers” when Gatsi overheard the discussion. Feeling aggrieved by what he perceived as offensive remarks, he confronted Zulu and demanded an explanation. The situation escalated, leading Gatsi to strike Zulu multiple times with a wooden stick.
The court’s decision to impose a monetary penalty reflects its stance on discouraging violence while promoting peaceful conflict resolution. “This case serves as a reminder that disputes should be addressed through dialogue, not aggression,” remarked a legal representative familiar with the proceedings.
