Mbudzi Interchange Renamed in Honour of President Mnangagwa

The Mbudzi Interchange in Harare has been officially renamed “Trabablas Interchange” in honour of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The new name, “Trabablas,” was President Mnangagwa’s nom de guerre during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.

Information Minister Jenfan Muswere announced the name change at a post-Cabinet briefing, stating that it was a way of recognising the President’s “sterling development work.”

“Cabinet wishes to advise that upon completion, the Mbudzi Interchange will be named ‘Trabablas Interchange’ in recognition of the visionary leadership of His Excellency the President Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa,” Muswere said.

The Mbudzi Roundabout was previously known for its severe traffic congestion. President Mnangagwa initiated plans for its upgrade, which is nearing completion.

The proposal for the name change was put forward by Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi, the Acting Chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on Place Names.

Military Barracks Also Renamed

The Cabinet also approved the renaming of several military barracks.

Headquarters 1 Infantry Brigade will revert to its original name, Khumalo Barracks, while Headquarters Bulawayo District will remain Imbizo Barracks. The Zimbabwe School of Infantry will be renamed Lookout Masuku Barracks.
