Mhangura Homeowners Targeted in Brutal Robbery: Cash, Gold, and Vehicle Stolen

A violent home invasion has left Mhangura residents shaken after a four-member gang stole a significant amount of cash, gold, and a car in the early hours of Friday, March 8th, 2024. Police are currently investigating the incident and appealing to the public for information.

According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, the robbery occurred around 0020 hours on 7th Street, Mhangura. Four unidentified men, armed with a pistol, machetes, and a hammer, forced their way into a residence and attacked two occupants sleeping in the main bedroom.

“The suspects stole US$13,960 in cash, 25 grams of gold, three cellphones, and the car keys for a Honda Fit bearing registration number AFY 9195,” Nyathi stated. “They then proceeded to another bedroom where they assaulted another victim and stole an additional 15 grams of processed gold, US$1,200 in cash, and another cellphone.”

The total haul from the robbery amounted to US$15,160 in cash, 40 grams of gold, and a Honda Fit vehicle. The stolen car has been identified as a Honda Fit with registration number AFY 9195.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward and report it to their nearest police station. The investigation into the Mhangura robbery is ongoing.
