The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has formally apologised for an error in its communication regarding construction activities at Victoria Falls, which was shared on Twitter on 29 April 2025.

The incorrect tweet, posted at 0918 hours, cited a news article claiming that contractors were already on site. The Ministry has since confirmed that this information was inaccurate, as the tender process remains ongoing.

An official responsible for managing the Ministry’s social media account admitted to breaching internal protocols by failing to verify the information with technical officers in the Department of Roads before publishing the post. Consequently, inaccurate details were shared with the public and stakeholders.

Following the bidding period, submissions will be evaluated by an independent committee, with the results forwarded to the Special Procurement Oversight Committee for review and eventual contract awarding.

The Ministry emphasised its commitment to providing accurate updates moving forward and has taken measures to prevent similar errors.
