The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have confirmed the arrest of a foreign national on 8 April 2025, for unlawful possession and sale of unregistered medicines. The suspect had been operating from an unlicensed beauty spa in Harare, raising concerns about public health and safety.

Detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics Unit acted on intelligence received on 4 April 2025, which pointed to the beauty spa conducting illegal activities. Following investigations, the detectives raided three premises associated with the suspect: 46 Van Praagh Avenue, Milton Park, 48 Harare Drive, and 157 Josiah Chinamano Avenue. At the third location, they discovered the beauty spa was operating without a valid premises licence and offering specialised services such as laser wart removal and laser hair removal, which require qualified personnel.

During the operation, various stocks of unapproved complementary medicines were recovered, including skin-lightening creams and body-enhancing products. These products, valued at approximately ZWG 450,000, comprised Sadoer Breast Enlargement Cream, Sadoer Slimming Cream, Ampoule Serum Fresh Anti-Oxidant, Sadoer Kojic Acid, and Sadoer Anti-Wrinkle Soothing Cream.

The ZRP has pledged to intensify efforts to combat illegal drug peddling, with crack teams established across the country to target dealers and bases. Police spokesperson Commissioner Nyathi urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement authorities, stating, “We appeal to citizens to report any drug-related activities to the National Complaints Desk or nearest police station.” Reports can be made via telephone (0242) 703631 or WhatsApp 0712 800 197.

This arrest marks another step in the ZRP’s ongoing campaign to address public health risks and illegal business operations, emphasising the importance of compliance with health and safety regulations.
