Authorities in Bindura have launched a full-scale investigation following the discovery of a mutilated body in a field on Saturday morning. The victim, whose identity remains unknown, was found headless and missing both hands and feet, sparking concerns over the nature of the crime.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed that a *manhunt for the suspects is now underway, urging anyone with missing relatives to contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Bindura or their nearest police station.
Inspector Milton Mundembe, spokesperson for the Mashonaland Province, described the incident as a callous crime, stating:
“An unknown accused person committed this murder, later dumping the body in a field without the head, both hands, and feet.”
The body has since been transferred to Bindura Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.
Given the circumstances of the killing, authorities suspect the crime may be linked to ritual practices, a phenomenon that has been reported in Zimbabwe in previous years.
Some traditional beliefs and economic desperation have driven individuals to engage in ritualistic murders, where body parts are allegedly harvested for ceremonies believed to bring wealth, influence, or protection.
Local communities have expressed shock and concern over the gruesome nature of the crime, with police urging residents to report any suspicious activity or missing persons cases that may be related.
