The incident occurred on Monday at around 5:50 PM on the Mazowe-Centenary Road.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the officer was conducting roadblock duties when a Freightliner truck travelling towards Mazowe drove through the checkpoint, hitting him with its trailer.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 30/12/24 at around 1750 hours at the 42 km peg along Mazowe-Centenary Road, Mvurwi in which a police officer was killed,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
