Police Officer Killed in Violent Incident at Glendale Nightclub
A police officer was killed and another injured during a violent incident at a nightclub in Glendale in the early hours of 26 December 2024.

Police Constable Ernest Kamufumo, 54, was fatally struck by a car driven by a suspect, Wellington Moyo, 26, while attempting to make an arrest at 007 Night Club.
The incident occurred around 4:30 AM during a performance by Macheso Band. Officers responded to reports of Moyo behaving violently towards patrons.
When Constable Admire Manyimbiri and Constable Yapara attempted to arrest Moyo, he resisted and struck Manyimbiri on the forehead with a stone.
Moyo then attempted to flee the scene in his car, reversing at high speed and hitting Constable Kamufumo, who was dragged beneath the vehicle.
The car eventually collided with a pavement, allowing bystanders to help subdue and arrest Moyo.
Constable Kamufumo and Constable Manyimbiri were taken to Concession Hospital, where Constable Kamufumo was pronounced dead on arrival.
Constable Manyimbiri was treated for a head injury and later discharged.
Moyo is in police custody, facing charges of culpable homicide and attempted murder.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police expressed their condolences to Constable Kamufumo’s family and assured the public that justice would be served.
