JUST IN: The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed arresting prominent Mt Darwin lawyer Advocate Elatone Bonongwe of Bonongwe and Partners.
A police source, speaking on condition of anonymity for professional reasons confirmed the arrest but could not clearly spell out the lawyer’s charge.
He however said the prominent and seasoned lawyers arrest came after police arrested four armed robbers yesterday along the Harare – Mukumbura Highway who had different dangerous weapons and allegedly implicated him saying he had hired them to broke into one of the council official’s house.
Bonongwe was alleged to be fighting some Pfura RDC officials and these same officials are suspected to be behind his arrest.
Before his arrest Advocate Bonongwe always tried to expose the “rot” at Pfura RDC and attacked the council’s top management including the CEO, a Mr. Nyachowe, the town engineer, a Mr. Chitsungo and their treasurer many times on whatsapp.
