President Emmerson Mnangagwa claimed that his administration has successfully contained strikes at tertiary learning institutions by establishing innovation hubs at campuses nationwide.
Speaking at the Zanu PF annual conference in Gweru, Mnangagwa, accompanied by his deputies Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi, emphasized the development of local solutions to boost the country’s economy, despite facing significant sanctions.
He expressed pride in the innovation hubs present in colleges, attributing their existence to the containment of strikes. Mnangagwa also stressed the importance of maximizing the benefits of Zimbabwe’s abundant mineral resources and supporting small-scale miners.
He further announced the party’s plans to expand the distribution of inputs, develop irrigation systems, and ensure that the majority of the country’s villages have solar-powered boreholes within the next five years.
The President also mentioned the successful completion of various development projects, including the improvement of major highways. Additionally, Mnangagwa presented a central committee report and an amended Zanu PF constitution.
Meanwhile, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, addressing the same gathering, made it clear that the party has zero tolerance for factionalism, stating, “We don’t want factionalism in the party, whatsoever.”
