President Mnangagwa Leads Burial of National Heroes at Heroes Acre

Today, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa is presiding over the burial of the late Brigadier General (Rtd) Victor Tapiwa Chashe Rungani and Cde Walter Basopo at the National Heroes Acre in Harare.
Brigadier General Rungani, whose nom de guerre included Cde Nyoka, Victor Chikudo, and Jackson Moyo, passed away on 22 April 2025 at Mbuya Dorcas Hospital in Harare at the age of 76.
He is remembered for his distinguished service and contributions to Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.
Cde Walter Basopo, known by his nom de guerre Gerry Dzasukwa, also passed away on 22 April 2025 after a prolonged illness at Life Groenkloof Hospital in Pretoria, South Africa.
He was 66 years old and is celebrated for his unwavering dedication to the nation’s independence and development.
