Pinjisi was hailed as a rising star in the Sungura music scene, blending traditional styles with modern influences to rejuvenate the genre. Born in Katsukunya Village, Mutoko, he attended Katsukunya Primary School before venturing into music at a young age. He is the younger brother of fellow Sungura musician Howard Pinjisi. The two collaborated on Howard’s album Umbiridzo, with Tatenda contributing as an instrumentalist.

Pinjisi’s music career took flight when he joined Zvishavane Sounds as a rhythm guitarist in 2007. In 2013, he joined the renowned UMOJA group before going solo in 2015, establishing his band Holy Super Sounds and recording label Super Cream Studios. His debut album, Rumbidzo Kumusiki, released in 2015, received widespread acclaim, with the track Saina becoming a hit and garnering over 84,000 YouTube views within eight months.

His subsequent album, Chibhakera Chenyasha (“Fist of Grace”), released in 2018, further cemented his reputation, with tracks like Dzikirira resonating deeply with fans for their portrayal of social life. Pinjisi’s innovation in what he called “soft gospel Sungura music” earned him admiration and praise from both fans and fellow musicians.

Fellow artists and fans have poured tributes on social media, reflecting the pain of losing such a talented performer.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the crash, which has reignited discussions about the safety of musicians during travel. Pinjisi leaves behind a rich musical legacy, his children, Charles Munhumumwe and Marshall Junior, and a devoted fan base.
