The Zimbabwean Police have at last managed to identify and locate the underage girls who were caught on camera consuming alcohol in a viral video.
The young children who were captured on camera consuming alcohol at a shopping centre have been identified by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
The video, which was shared on social media platforms and showed several underage girls and a boy consuming alcohol in public at Juru Growth Point, sparked concern among viewers. As a result of the widespread attention it garnered online, police have launched an investigation into the incident.
The police have successfully identified and tracked down six young girls as well as a boy who were caught on video drinking alcohol. The law enforcement agency made this announcement in a recent statement.
The statement acknowledges the widely circulated social media footage of a group of adolescent girls consuming beer at a shopping centre within the nation. Juru Growth Point in Murewa has been identified by ZRP as this location. According to part of their declaration, the six young females and one male have also been traced and located by ZRP.
Moreover, the authorities confirmed that they had identified and contacted the parents or guardians of the underage individuals. It has been reported that currently, these minors are being provided with guidance through the ZRP Victim Friendly Unit (VFU).
“The minors’ parents and guardians have been found, and with the assistance of relevant government agencies, the Police VFU is currently providing counselling services to them.”
Police have made ongoing efforts to crack down on public alcohol consumption among minors. In yet another case, authorities were able to identify the culprits involved in drinking alcohol publicly. This incident occurred just a week after police discovered and located several boys who had gone viral for consuming alcoholic beverages outdoors on Christmas day.
Together with their parents, the Zimbabwe Republic Police successfully located and identified them. Furthermore, they apprehended the individual who sold alcohol to minors.
Phaeton Mutiyaya (23) was arrested by the police for providing alcohol to underage individuals. Additionally, his supply of alcoholic beverages was seized as evidence.
