Zimbabwe’s Warriors head coach, Michael Nees, has named a 23-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria, with veteran forward Knowledge Musona making a surprise return after retiring from international duty in 2022.
Musona, 34, who captained Zimbabwe at the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), joins the squad as Nees seeks experience to revive the team’s qualifying campaign. Zimbabwe currently sits bottom of Group C with two points from four matches.
“Knowledge’s return is crucial—he brings leadership and depth as we build toward AFCON. He was always willing to come back, and his commitment hasn’t wavered,” said Nees.
