Controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo has once again made headlines for his extravagant spending, this time gifting a brand-new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR and US$250,000 in cash to Dr Eunor Guti, widow of the late Archbishop Ezekiel Guti, founder of ZAOGA Forward in Faith Ministries.
Taking to Twitter, Chivayo announced the gift, stating it was in recognition of Guti’s contributions to faith and humanitarian work in Zimbabwe.
However, his latest act of philanthropy has reignited public debate over his pattern of lavish gifting, which critics argue is strategically targeted towards individuals aligned with Zanu PF or influential figures in religious and artistic circles.
Known for his high-profile donations, Chivayo has previously gifted vehicles and cash to church leaders, musicians, and prominent personalities, raising questions about the motivations behind these acts.
While supporters hail his generosity, others argue that his philanthropy often appears selective and politically intertwined.
His business dealings—particularly linked to government contracts—have fuelled speculation about whether his gifts serve personal or strategic interests, with some critics describing his spending as questionable patronage rather than genuine charity.
Dr Eunor Guti, a respected religious figure, has yet to comment publicly on the significant donation, which comes amid ongoing reflections on Archbishop Guti’s legacy following his passing.
