This appointment is a significant milestone for Zimbabwean football, underscoring Ruzario’s expertise and the increasing recognition of Zimbabwean officials on the continental stage. His selection highlights CAF’s commitment to fostering refereeing talent across Africa.

Ruzario’s career has seen him officiate both domestic and international matches, earning respect among players and colleagues. His inclusion in the tournament marks a proud moment for Zimbabwe, as the country continues to produce respected football officials.

Historically, Zimbabwe has had referees involved in high-profile competitions. Mandla Moyo, who officiated in the 2019 CAF Champions League and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, helped enhance the country’s reputation in football officiating. Similarly, Mavis Chidzonga has been instrumental in women’s competitions, including the CAF Women’s Champions League, paving the way for female referees in the sport.

With Ruzario’s selection, Zimbabwe’s refereeing presence continues to strengthen at the international level. As the CAF U20 AFCON draws closer, he and his fellow officials will play a crucial role in ensuring fair play and upholding the integrity of the tournament.
