The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reaffirmed that the security situation across the nation remains peaceful, allowing citizens to move freely and conduct their daily activities without hindrance. In a statement issued on 29th March 2025, the ZRP urged the public to dismiss false social media claims suggesting disruptions to law and order.
“No one will be stopped by police officers from entering Central Business Districts, going to work, or attending church,” the statement clarified, addressing widespread misinformation.
The ZRP also cautioned against any attempts to obstruct people from their normal routines, warning that firm action will be taken against those interfering under the guise of strikes or demonstrations. Additionally, the police criticised certain private schools for prematurely sending pupils home based on unverified claims circulating on social media. The Commissioner-General of Police has engaged the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to address the issue with the concerned institutions.
Citizens were encouraged to report individuals inciting violence, making threats, or pressuring others into unlawful acts. The ZRP reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and safeguarding public confidence.
