A Harare man has been arrested after he was accused of stabbing and killing his brother following a dispute that reportedly began at a farm in Banket, Mashonaland West, last week.
The two men were identified as Brendon Chirawu and Gideon Chirawu, brothers from Greystone Park in Harare. Brendon is alleged to have stabbed Gideon during the dispute, leading to Gideon’s death.
Sources said that after Gideon collapsed, Brendon attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while waiting for an ambulance. He is also said to have transported Gideon to hospital, but Gideon died before admission at a medical facility in Borrowdale, Harare. Gideon was 33, according to the same sources.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi could not be reached for comment at the time the report was published. No comment was obtained from the family.

H-Metro reported that Brendon was arrested and initially detained at Borrowdale Police Station before being taken to Banket for further handling of the matter.
The incident has left residents of Greystone Park shocked. One resident, Trynos Kamudyariwa, described Gideon as a quiet person.
“We have been saddened by the loss of Gideon. He was so loving and very quiet, and we were shocked by the incident that led to his death,” Kamudyariwa said.
The case adds to growing public concern around violent crime and family disputes escalating into fatal incidents. Police have not released further details on the circumstances surrounding the dispute.
