BINDURA, Zimbabwe — What began as an arrest for suspected mining-related crime has taken a dark and disturbing turn following the discovery of human remains at a residence in Chipindura Park.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have confirmed the arrest of 28-year-old Alfred Chinjiva. Detectives initially moved in on Chinjiva on 2 February 2026, at a local mine in Bindura, where he was found in possession of a dummy pistol—an item classified under articles for criminal use.

However, the investigation deepened significantly when police conducted a subsequent search of the suspect’s home. During the raid, officers uncovered a macabre collection of human remains meticulously wrapped in various coloured cloths.

According to official police reports, the recovered items include:

  • A human skull bearing two distinct cuts on the back, wrapped in a yellow cloth.
  • A second human skull wrapped in a red cloth.
  • A single bone, also wrapped in red fabric.
  • Two buckets containing several bones wrapped in a combination of green, yellow, black, and blue cloths.
  • Three plastic containers filled with soil mixed with what are suspected to be human hair and bone fragments.

The presence of these remains has sent shockwaves through the Bindura community. While the motive behind the possession of these items has not yet been established, such discoveries are often linked to ritualistic practices or unresolved serious crimes.

Police authorities have stated that forensic investigations are currently underway to identify the remains and determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. “More details will be released as investigations progress,” the ZRP noted in an official statement.

Bindura Eye is following this developing story closely and will provide updates as they become available from official channels.
