Iran has claimed that more than 200 United States soldiers and commanders have been killed or wounded in what it described as retaliatory attacks carried out by the Iranian Armed Forces over the past 24 hours.
According to Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Zolfaghari, the reported casualties and damage were linked to strikes on US military positions in the region.
Zolfaghari said 21 American service members were killed and others injured during Iranian attacks on the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. He added that about 200 US personnel were killed or wounded during strikes against the Al Dhafra Air Base, a major US military facility in the Gulf region.

The spokesperson also claimed an oil tanker owned by the United States was targeted in the northern part of the Persian Gulf. No independent verification of these claims was provided in the source material.
The claims come amid heightened regional tensions following what Iran described as a new round of military attacks by the United States and Israel on 28 February. The report characterises those strikes as unlawful and says they followed earlier attacks on Iran and its nuclear facilities.
The same report states that the latest strikes resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with hundreds of Iranian civilians, including women and children, and military commanders. It also says Iran responded by launching missile and drone attacks on Israeli-occupied territories and US bases in countries across the region.
Iranian officials, according to the report, said the operations were aimed at US and Israeli assets and interests, and that Iran “respects” the sovereignty of host countries where US bases are located.
