A 24-year-old woman has been sentenced to 26 months in prison after she was convicted of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old boy, in a case heard at the Murewa Regional Magistrates’ Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the offence occurred on 14 February 2026. Prosecutors told the court that the woman visited the boy at his home, where he was in the company of his brother, and the group spent time watching videos on a mobile phone.
Later that night, the court heard, the woman followed the boy into a room and initiated sexual contact, which resulted in sexual intercourse.

The matter was reported to the police on 27 February 2026 after the boy raised health concerns with his father. The NPAZ said that when the father asked what was wrong, the boy disclosed what had happened. The family then made a report to the police, leading to the woman’s arrest.
The sentencing was handed down at the Murewa Regional Magistrates’ Court. Cases involving minors are handled under laws meant to protect children from sexual exploitation, and authorities continue to urge guardians and community members in Mashonaland Central and surrounding areas to report suspected abuse promptly to the police and child protection services.
