NetOne has announced the appointment of Richard Mahomva as its new Head of Public Relations, effective 1 January 2026. This marks the first time since the company’s restructuring five years ago under CEO Raphael Mushanawani that the role has been formally filled. Mahomva brings a wealth of experience as a seasoned communications professional, having previously served as Director for International Communications Services in the Ministry of Information and Publicity.
The move has been welcomed by the media sector, with praise for the CEO’s strategic decision to stabilise the company’s communications framework. Richard Mahomva is expected to lead NetOne’s public relations into a new phase, enhancing stakeholder engagement and corporate communication efforts amidst rapid digital transformation within the telecommunications sector.
Mahomva’s background includes coordinating Zimbabwe’s international public diplomacy, acting as the SADC National Media Coordinator, and serving as a key figure in the Cabinet Thematic Committee on International Image-Building, Foreign Relations and International Trade. His decade-long involvement in both government and party statecraft assignments positions him well to strengthen NetOne’s corporate communications as the company navigates a competitive market demanding advanced digital solutions.
The appointment underscores NetOne’s commitment to reinforce its public image as it pushes forward with its digital and innovation agenda into 2026. Mahomva succeeds Dr Elderette Shereni, who left the company for a banking sector role. The PR position was created after a restructuring led by former CEO Lazarus Muchenje, separating marketing and public relations functions.
