The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has confirmed the arrest of Profutunny Investments (Pvt) Ltd director Prosper Isaka on allegations of smuggling groceries into Zimbabwe and evading duty through misrepresentation at Plumtree Border Post.
According to ZACC, the allegations relate to the period between March and June 2024. Isaka is accused of importing grocery consignments from Boss Foods (Pvt) Ltd and declaring to authorities at Plumtree that he was bringing in agricultural equipment, allegedly in order to avoid paying the correct import duty.
ZACC said the alleged misrepresentation was carried out in connivance with clearing agents Nyasha Moyo and Blessing Kodzawako, and revenue officers Luckson Chikwara, James Dzimirwa and Tinotenda Allen Mawoyo.
ZACC added that the clearing agents and the revenue officers are already on remand.

As a result of the alleged scheme, ZACC said the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) suffered a prejudice of ZAR2,700,876.45 in lost import duty.
The case is expected to be of interest to communities across Zimbabwe, including traders and transporters who pass through key routes linking Mashonaland Central to national markets, as authorities continue to focus on customs fraud, border controls and revenue leakages.
Bindura Eye will continue to follow the matter through verified updates from ZACC and court proceedings.
