Former Liverpool forward Divock Origi has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 31.
Origi confirmed the decision in a statement posted on social media on Monday, saying he believes his time in the game as a player has come to an end.
“My purpose in the game as a player is fulfilled,” Origi wrote. “I lived out my childhood dreams to play on the biggest stages and win the biggest trophies. I am grateful to God for all of it.”
No further details were immediately available regarding whether Origi plans to move into coaching, business or other roles within football.
Origi is best known for his time at Liverpool, where he became a popular figure among supporters for key goals in major matches during his spell at the club.
