The Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Affairs says it has completed the first phase of a capacity-building programme aimed at improving how services and benefits are managed for Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, their spouses and dependants.

In a statement outlining the initiative, the ministry said the training was delivered through its ICT Directorate and covered the Veterans Benefits Management Information System (VeBeMIS), Government Email Services and AnyDesk Remote Desktop Support. The first phase was concluded in Bulawayo Province.

According to the ministry, VeBeMIS is designed to strengthen the management of beneficiary information by improving the accuracy of records, reducing administrative delays and supporting more efficient processing of services and benefits.

The ministry said improved digital systems can lessen the need for repeated follow-up visits, speed up communication and strengthen accountability in the delivery of services to veterans and their families.

It added that accurate and secure records can also help government offices to better understand the needs of veterans, surviving spouses and dependants, enabling improved planning and targeting of available support programmes.

The Government Email and remote ICT support components, the ministry said, are intended to improve communication and ensure provincial offices can access technical assistance quickly, helping maintain service continuity.

The ministry described the digital transformation drive as part of efforts to ensure liberation war veterans and their families receive services “with dignity, efficiency and care”, adding that modernised systems are expected to improve access and service delivery over time.
