The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival national finals will be held at Harare Gardens on Saturday, with 10 groups competing for the top prize in what organisers describe as Zimbabwe’s premier traditional dance competition.

For Mashonaland Central, attention will be on Dzimbahwe Nengoma, which qualified for the national stage and will perform Chinyambera as it contests for the winner-takes-all title.

Organisers said the festival has been running since 9 May, with provincial competitions held around the country to select the groups that will represent each province at the national finals.

Delta Corporation general manager for corporate affairs Patricia Murambinda said the event is intended to preserve and promote the country’s traditional dances while bringing communities together.

“Since 9 May, the festival has captivated audiences across the country, with provinces staging highly competitive provincial finals to select the best traditional dance groups to represent them at the national level,” Murambinda said.

“The national finalists have now been confirmed, and the groups will compete for the national title in a winner-takes-all contest at Harare Gardens.

“The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival is more than just a competition; it is a celebration of identity, heritage and unity. It continues to preserve and promote Zimbabwe’s diverse traditional dances while bringing communities together on one national stage.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the heartbeat of the nation live in Harare,” she said.

The event is organised by Delta Corporation through its Chibuku brand, in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association (ZNTDA). Organisers said entry is free, but attendance is restricted to adults aged 18 and above.
