Minnie Baloyi-Chiwenga, the wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has given US$100 to a Zimbabwean woman after a social media interaction in which the woman said she had never eaten at Nando’s.

The woman, identified only as Rue, commented on one of Baloyi-Chiwenga’s posts saying she had not tasted the popular restaurant’s food. Baloyi-Chiwenga responded by offering to buy her a meal.

According to the account shared online, Rue was outside Zimbabwe at the time of the exchange and later contacted Baloyi-Chiwenga after returning home. The money was received on Rue’s birthday, accompanied by a message from Baloyi-Chiwenga.

“Happy birthday Rue, be blessed always. I pray for more Nando’s for you in future,” Baloyi-Chiwenga wrote.

Rue later posted photographs of the meal and described the US$100 as a birthday gift. “I got US$100 from Mhamha Minnie Baloyi as a birthday gift and I bought Nando’s as she promised. Best birthday gift ever. One bite and my taste buds threw a party,” Rue wrote.

The exchange attracted attention on social media, with some users commenting on how online platforms can connect public figures with members of the public in unexpected ways.
