EcoCash ChakaChaya returns with US$400,000 prizes and draws in Mt Darwin

EcoCash has launched the eighth edition of its ChakaChaya neEcoCash Promotion, with the mobile money platform saying customers across Zimbabwe will compete for prizes worth more than US$400 000, including 10 new vehicles.

According to details released by the company, the promotion began on Thursday, June 18, 2026, marked by a roadshow parade in Harare starting in Arundel, passing through the central business district and ending in Mbare. The annual campaign was first introduced in 2018.

EcoCash said this year’s prize pool includes solar systems, smartphones, all-expenses-paid holidays to Victoria Falls, deep freezers, cash rewards and grocery vouchers, in addition to the vehicles.

Customers earn points through transactions made using EcoCash USD or ZWG wallets, with one point awarded for every US$1 or the equivalent in ZWG. The company said diaspora remittances and payments made via the newly launched EcoCash Super App will attract double points.

EcoCash said customers need at least 30 points in a week to qualify for weekly draws, while those who accumulate 500 points or more during the promotion period will automatically enter the grand prize draw.

To widen participation, EcoCash said prize draws will be held at more than 30 locations around the country, including Mt Darwin, as well as Bulawayo, Masvingo, Gweru, Mutare, Chinhoyi, Chipinge and other centres.

The company said the draws will be overseen by independent auditors, with winners notified by SMS and announced through EcoCash’s official platforms.

EcoCash added that new customer registrations and downloads of the EcoCash Super App will be rewarded with free airtime incentives.

In a statement, the company said the promotion is intended to reward customers while increasing uptake of digital financial services. “Every day, millions of Zimbabweans use EcoCash to send money, buy airtime, pay bills, receive remittances and make merchant payments,” EcoCash said. “Through this promotion, EcoCash is saying ‘Thank you’ to its customers and rewarding them with opportunities to win prizes that can make a meaningful difference in their lives.”

EcoCash said that since the promotion began eight years ago it has distributed prizes worth millions of dollars, including vehicles, livestock, household appliances and holiday packages.

For Mashonaland Central customers, the inclusion of Mt Darwin among draw locations is expected to bring the campaign closer to local communities, particularly as mobile money and app-based payments continue to grow in everyday use.
