Alick Macheso to stage 10-song classic set for 500 fans in Harare

Sungura musician Alick Macheso and his band, Orchestra Mberikwazvo, are set to perform a limited-capacity show in Harare on Friday, 7 August 2026, with organisers saying only 500 fans will be admitted.

The event, billed as “An Exclusive Night of Timeless Music”, will be held at Golden Conifer and will feature a set of exactly 10 of Macheso’s classic songs, selected from his catalogue.

Organisers have pegged tickets at US$100 and said there will be no ticket sales at the gate. Bookings and information are available on +263 77 391 4449.

Macheso confirmed the show on his official Facebook page, writing: “Ayayaaaaaaa Mabhozida edu. Nguva yekufara yacho ndiyoyi, saka ngaibakeeee,” as anticipation builds among fans over which songs will be included.

The performance is being promoted as a more intimate experience than a large venue show, with the limited capacity intended to keep the setting close to the stage and focused on live sound.

Macheso, who has recorded more than 10 albums over roughly three decades, is widely known for hit songs across different eras of his career, including work from his earlier period with Khiama Boys and later releases with Orchestra Mberikwazvo.

Promoters have not released the planned setlist, saying the 10 songs will only be revealed on the night. The announcement has already sparked debate among Macheso’s fanbase about which favourites could be chosen for the show.

The concert is expected to attract fans from around Zimbabwe, including from Mashonaland Central, where sungura remains a popular genre at social gatherings and community events.
