A 27-year-old Harare man has appeared in court facing fraud allegations after a home seeker reportedly lost US$40,000 in a property transaction.
Liberty Kamango appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court charged with fraud as defined in the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, according to information published by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
The State alleges Kamango sold a residential property to a complainant even though the same house had already been disposed of to another buyer.
Kamango was granted bail of US$100 and was remanded in custody to 6 July 2026.
The matter comes amid continued reports of property-related fraud cases being heard in Zimbabwe’s courts, raising concerns about abuse of trust in real estate deals.
Prospective buyers are typically advised to conduct thorough due diligence before making payments, including verifying ownership and transaction records through official channels.
