Hardrock FC moved to the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) standings after a 2-0 away victory over Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday, 15 May.
The Kwekwe side responded to their recent 1-0 home defeat to Highlanders by taking the lead early in Bulawayo, with Washington Navaya converting a penalty to put them in control.
Hardrock then doubled their advantage through Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini, who struck from around 35 metres into the roof of the net. Dlamini was later voted Man of the Match.
The result keeps Hardrock’s strong run intact this season, with the club now on eight wins, three draws and two defeats for 26 points. Recent results have included a 6-1 win over FC Hunters and a 3-0 victory against TelOne.

Hardrock are level on points with CAPS United but sit first on goal difference. They have scored 21 goals and conceded seven for a goal difference of +14. Their defensive record leaves them among the league’s better sides at the back, level with Highlanders on goals conceded and behind only Scotland, who have conceded six.
The early title conversation is also being shaped by Ngezi Platinum, Scotland, MWOS and Simba Bhora, all of whom remain within touch of the leading positions as the season develops.
Hardrock face another test this weekend when they take on Dynamos at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday, a fixture likely to have a direct bearing on the PSL log as the race for consistency continues.
The club’s recruitment has been cited as a key part of their early-season progress, with Junior Makunike, Donald Mudadi, Munashe Bamara, Martin Mapisa and Eswatini internationals Neliswa Dlamini and Sambulo Simelani among those brought in.
Coach Kelvin Kaindu said the team had responded to the setback against Highlanders. “I am very proud of my team, especially coming from a loss in our midweek game against Highlanders – a game we could have taken maximum points from,” Kaindu said. “Today the boys settled quickly, shifted well, and we got an early goal. We need to remain focused and maintain our goals. Like any team, we are here to compete, not to make up the numbers.”
