Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon Christopher Magomo (MP), on Tuesday toured two major developments in Bindura, highlighting them as practical examples of devolution in action and progress under Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

The tour focused on healthcare delivery and economic activity in the Bindura Central Business District, with officials saying the projects are intended to reduce reliance on services in Harare and keep more spending and investment within the province.

Magomo first visited Vitality Hospital, a new facility that has been operational since 23 February 2026. The minister said the hospital was addressing long-standing gaps in access to specialised healthcare in Mashonaland Central.

“This hospital is a game-changer,” Magomo said during the visit. “We are no longer losing critical time and resources referring serious cases to Harare. Quality healthcare is now a local reality.”

Officials at the site reported that the hospital has reduced outbound patient referrals, improved emergency response, and introduced specialist consultations in Bindura. They also pointed to economic benefits linked to the facility, including skilled employment for medical personnel and additional demand for goods and services from local suppliers.

From the hospital, the minister proceeded to the K-Mall construction site in Bindura’s CBD, where a modern retail complex is under development to serve the town’s growing population and commercial needs.

“This is about building a modern, self-sufficient urban economy,” Magomo said while inspecting the project. “K-Mall will keep spending within our province, create opportunities for our people, and formalise trade.”

Project planners say the mall is expected to include retail shops, banking halls and office space when completed. They indicated that the development is projected to create jobs, with an emphasis on opportunities for young people and women, and to broaden the municipality’s revenue base through increased formal business activity.

Officials also said the investment could reduce the frequency with which residents travel to Harare for banking and shopping, helping retain capital in Mashonaland Central and supporting NDS2 goals linked to local economic development.
